Sue x Ormond Mirk Pups

Sue is the physically strongest female I have bred (or owned). The product of James McCloskey’s Nel (by Sweep) and Dewi Jenkins’ reigning International Campion, Clywd Bob, Sue is an absolute bull on the field, with talent to match.

Sue

Ormond Mirk, purchased from Dewi Jenkins as a pup, is the son of Dewi’s other International Champion, Jock, the sire of Clwyd Bob. Mirk is a supremely athletic and instinctive dog, with passion and energy. He is Clwyd Bob with 25% more intensity.

In consultation with Dewi, I did a line breeding of his Mirk to my Sue, with a 6.5% co-effficant of inbreeding around Dewi’s Jock. The late (and dearly missed) Teun van den Dool, the unofficial sheep dog geneticist, also weighed in, giving this match his blessing. Dogs I like permeate the pedigree of 4 pups from this mating of Sue to Ormond Mirk

Born on 4-July-2025, the pups are solid and even-tempered, showing early signs of working talent. One pup was committed early, 3 pups remain for working and companion homes:

  • Prima – tri-colored female
  • Shark – handsome, strong and classically marked male
  • Troy – a sweetie pup with sire’s temperament and mom’s build (for a companion home or working home)

Mirk and Sue are both 100% clear of genetic diseases on their breed DNA profile. No known genetic disease in either of the lines. Puppies are clear by parentage.

Troy

Troy is the sweetheart of the litter. He is the classic ‘Good Dog’.

  • Even tempered, gets along with everyone
  • Playful and smiling
  • Powerfully built (like a rugby player) with classical markings

Troy will work sheep, very movement focused. His relaxed temperament makes him an ideal companion pet as well.

At 4 months old

The words that describe Troy are: stable, good-natured, happy and playful. He has no fears: not people, not dogs, not noises. Never looks for a fight, but won’t be bullied.

As a 10 week old pup

Troy has shown increasing interest in herding activities. He would be a good pick for a mixed companion work home. Price $2995.

Prima

At 4 months old

This pup has been special from the day she was born. She is as loving, sweet and animated as any pup I have bred. I named her ‘Prima‘, because it means first or premium, depending on the language.

The word that comes to mind for Prima is ‘doll‘. Small in size and beautiful, tame and easy to have around, she is perfect for someone wanting a smaller working collie. She lives in the barn with the rest, but is very comfortable inside.

Prima was the first in her litter to take part in herding games. She is very attentive to what is going on and like her sire, stays out on point, so she can be just where she needs to be when things move.

Prima is smart, curious, composed and playful. When she gets pounced on or beaten up, because she is small, she runs to me for comfort. She has no fears. Once I put her down, she is right bak in the fray.

At 4 months old

Prima would be the perfect combination companion, working dog. She would be excellent at athletic activities like herding. She is fast, fast, focused, smart and biddable.

Shark

Shark is a personal favorite of mine. He has the most open and joyful nature. Impossible not to fall in love with. Shark greets me each morning with paws on thighs, tail furiously wagging, excitement and smiles all over his face as if I were the sum total of all the good things in this world. Who could not love a dog like that?

Shark has taken to herding games. It is clear to me he has the ‘stuff’ in him. Not as smooth as his sire, yet, but naturally takes the same point position his sire does to watch the action and make sure he can be where it might go. Shark is a 3 on the 5 point power-intensity scale, where most working dogs are. He is a very good listener, biddable and naturally cooperative.

Shark would make a super companion, but he has more to offer than that. Perhaps herding. Or agility. Or something else entirely. He will thrive with a challenge(s) he and his human can both engage in together. Shark is beautifully behaved, inside and outside the kennel, on and off the property. A very, very nice dog to have around.
