Kody
Kody was my first collie. The name ‘Kody’ is from the Norse tradition, and it means “helpful“. Kody helped me find a new –better– life with sheepdogs.
I always knew Kody was special. He could do anything well: herd sheep, cattle, even horses. He could snag soccer balls kicked in mid-air and he was a therapy dog in nursing facilities. Kody was afflicted with degenerative mitral valve disease, a largely hereditary disease, the last years of his life and passed away 1 mo. shy of his 13th birthday.
My ‘once in a lifetime dog’ just happened to be my first.
Kody loved to play basketball.
Kody kind of did everything well …including being a therapy dog in nursing homes.
