Blu

STRONG DOG FOR SERIOUS HERDING

Black & white border collie puppies with blue eyes are rare. Blu is that rare, striking blue-eyed pup. He has one fully blue eye and one half blue eye. It creates an awesome effect as the sun hits his face.

Blu is a sweet-tempered, playful pup with a strong physique and presence. At 10 weeks, Blu (the only male) became the biggest pup of the litter and the distance between him and the others grows.

On a 5 point dominance scale, Blu is a 4+: more confident than the norm, though not aggressive and unlikely to have to assert dominance, except when it comes to stock. He is a strong dog physically and on sheep. He is pushy and motivated, forward moving and takes control with intense concentration. Blu is a pup that will need to be slowed down not asked to move a move ahead. Best with strong / experienced handler a lot of work.

Blu has a natural walk-up on sheep. He was on my list of two to keep out of this litter, but I can only keep one and it made more sense to keep a female, so talented Blu is available to a new working home.

Blue is a ‘go-to dog’ for an experienced handler with a serious farm and a lot of work.

Blu is an IGS [intestinal cobalamin malabsorption] carrier but not at risk for any genetic diseases (since it takes two copies of a gene to be at risk) based on the Orivet full breed profile.
