Coffee prices have gone up over 50% in the last 6 months. About half of that increase is due to volatile weather conditions, viz. global climate change, and increasing global demand.

The other half is due to tariffs of 50% on coffee beans from Brazil and elsewhere …but of course, tariffs are not tax according to our MAGAt leaders, they are not paid by Americans. WRONG!!! As the tariffs work their way though the supply chain, prices could climb even further.

The wealthy got tax breaks. The rest of us got tariffs. For this, go thank a MAGAt and the president and representatives they elected.

I went to reorder coffee from my favorite roaster here in Vermont. A bag of Costa Rican dark that cost $13.00 6 months ago, now costs $19.50. That is a 50% increase!

The use of tariffs as cudgel to get countries to bend to a would-be dictator’s whim is unprecedented …and illegal. In any normal times, the Congress and Supreme Court would have their say. They are both ‘owned‘ –controlled– by Donald Trump now. So, when you grimace at the price of coffee, go thank a MAGAt. And then listen to them try to tell you Trump is a smart businessman who knows what he is doing, plays 4D chess, or some other bullshit line, because they cannot admit the truth: they are as irresponsible as the corrupt bully they elected president.
