Breeding Reference Material<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The most complete desk reference for serious breeders is Canine Reproduction, The Breeder’s Guide<\/span>. It was recommended to me by my theriorgenoloigst (repro vet) when I first started breeding dogs. My copy has had everything spilled on it over years. I still consult it with every litter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A less technical but very informative book is the Complete Book of Dog Breeding, by veterinarian, Dan Rice D.V.M. Topics not found other places, like how to do CPR on a non-breaking puppy at birth and or clear its lungs of fluid. This would be a book I would recommend to novice breeders. <\/p>\n\n\n

Another useful book written by French veterinarians and sponsored by Pharma company Merial, is the Practical Guide to Dog Breeding<\/span>. The illustrations and graphics are excellent. Warning<\/em>: it does have a very definite ‘French feel’ to it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are lots of other good books on Border Collies that I own containing sections on breeding. Here are two excellent choices.<\/p>\n\n\n
