Gwyddil Ben (Dewi Jenkins)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bred and trained by Dewi Jenkins, Gwyddil Ben is phenomenal working dog. At just 12 months old, Ben, sired by Dewi’s Clwyd Bob, was fully trained and sold at auction for over $24,000 in 2023. I asked Dewi how he was able to train Ben so early. He said, Ben was easy to train, he knew just what to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ben is an eye-catching smooth-coated dog, an excellent outrunner with plenty of forward gear, used for moving large numbers of sheep (and cattle). Dewi says, “Ben has a big engine and will run and work all day no problem, an excellent prospect for nursery trials with his correct flanks, and a 100% temperament.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ben is what I personally look for in working dogs: good listener, gritty, pushy, smart and bold. It is absolutely amazing what this full-trained dog could do at just 12 months old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ben was so fully trained at 12 months that he didn’t need nurseries to demonstrate his credentials. Everything a working farm needs to know is in the video below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my opinion, Ben is one of the top 3 dogs Dewi has ever trained and sold.<\/em><\/strong> (so that excludes the retained stars: Jock, Gwyddil Ben and Moss). Ben is now in private hands, and no more semen will be available from this extraordinary dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I took 3 doses of Ben from Dewi before he sold him to the man who purchased him as a mate for his Kim, the most expensive sheep dog in the world ($39,000), also from Dewi Jenkins. I will breed with 2 doses of Ben. The 3rd is being offered for sale, a one-time shot [pun intended<\/em>] for those who like\/breed first class working dogs and want to gear-up their breeding program.<\/p>\n\n\n

Single dose of Ben, 3 straws containing a hefty 199 million post-thaw normal sperm, is available for sale from Zoetis: $3000. Shipping is $125 to Zoetis partner clinics \/ freeze centers. These are very<\/em> potent doses with about twice the minimum breeding dose. Expect a good-sized litter. Just two pups from a good bitch will pay for the stud fee and breeding costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
